A few comments from YouTube will explain

i have a couple things to say about this video: anyone who has any kind of post-traumatic response to external stimulus understands what a serious fucking panic attack sunny is having here. the psychological trigger (the sound/flash) leads to the physiological response (elevated heart rate, labored breathing, etc) and it’s something you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT control. when sunny casts the glance over to the girls at 0:25 what you are actually witnessing is what happens when a traumatic experience makes it difficult/impossible for the brain to reconcile the psychological/physiological response with what is actually happening; sunny is on stage with her loved ones in front of her adoring fans, but the chemicals and signals in her brain are still in kuwait during the war. despite all this, she continued the performance, which points out two very important things: 1) she’s courageous as fuck. everyone knows sunny can push through a lot. she could’ve stormed off the stage, and huddled shivering in a corner, which is what her reflex was telling her to do. but she managed to carry out her role because 2) it’s what she was trained to do. not just the old “the show must go on” mentality that SM beats into you, but the hours and hours and hours of practice leading to muscle memory is demonstrated here. her mind was in two different places, but the robotic sequence of bodily movements is so ingrained that she could’ve been unfuckingconcious and still sang/danced her parts. go sunny.

Sunny of Girls Generation was not in a good mood at all after those damn fireworks exploded right in front of her. She got a posttraumatic response to them. When she hears anything explode she thinks of the gulf war. Yes she is haunted by the gulf war. She lived in Kuwait with her family during that time.
